Mostengineeringsystemsarerepairable,whichmakes
theminherentlycomplexinnature.Analyzingthereliability
characteristicsofrepairablesystemsismuchmoredifficult
thananalyzingthereliabilitycharacteristicsofnon-repairable
systems.Theanalysisbecomesevenmoredifficultwhenthe
failureorrepairdistributionsarenon-exponential.The
complexityfurtherincreaseswhentheconfigurationofthe
systemisnotasimpleseriesorparallelarchitecture.Inthis
paper,weprovideefficientmethodsforcomputingtheexact
reliabilitycharacteristicsofcomplexrepairablesystemswith
s-independentcomponents.Theproposedmethodscanbe
combinedwithanyexistingcombinatorialmethodstosolve
networkreliabilityproblems.Inordertotakeadvantageof
today’sstate-of-artdatastructures,wehaveproposeda
methodforusingBinaryDecisionDiagrams(BDDs)to
computetheresults.Theproposedmethodcomputesthe
resultsquicklyandaccurately.Itcanalsobeappliedinthe
caseofgeneralfailureandrepairdistributions. |
