StandardTestMethodsforVibrationTestingofShippingContainers1
1.Scope
1.1Thesemethodscovervibrationtestsoffilledshippingcontainers.Suchtestsmaybeusedtoassesstheperformanceofacontainer,withitsinteriorpackingandmeansofclosure,bothintermsofitsstrengthandoftheprotectionitprovidesitscontentswhenitissubjectedtovibrationsuchasitexperiencesintransportation.Theseproceduresaresuitablefortestingcontainersofanyform,material,kind,designofinteriorpacking,meansofclosure,andanysizeandweight.Theyarenotintendedfordeterminingtheresponseofproductstovibrationforproductdesignpurposes,noraretheyintendedfor
testsofproductsintheiroperationalconfigurationasothermoresuitableproceduresareavailableforthesepurposes.

1.2Thefollowingmethodsappear:
MethodA1—RepetitiveShockTest(VerticalMotion).
MethodA2—RepetitiveShockTest(RotaryMotion).
MethodB—SingleContainerResonanceTest.
MethodC—PalletizedLoad,UnitizedLoad,orVertical
StackResonanceTest.
